"Captain Phillips" is a biographical thriller based on the true story of the 2009 hijacking of the MV Maersk Alabama by Somali pirates. The film follows Captain Richard Phillips (Tom Hanks), the captain of the container ship, as he navigates through the treacherous waters of the Indian Ocean. The pirates, led by Abduwali Abdukhadir Muse (Barkhad Abdi), board the ship and take Phillips and his crew hostage. As tensions rise, Phillips uses his experience and wits to try and outsmart the pirates, while also trying to protect his crew.
