About the Author: Guillermo Floris Margadant (1924–2011) was a distinguished Dutch-Mexican legal historian. He is one of the most influential Roman law scholars in Latin America. After fleeing Europe during World War II, he settled in Mexico, where he obtained his doctorate and became a professor at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). His interdisciplinary approach—linking Roman law with philology, history, and sociology—made his work exceptionally clear and profound.
