1. The Birth of Skhanda In 2014, South African hip-hop was evolving rapidly. Artists like Cassper Nyovest had just ignited the “Fill Up” movement, and AKA was dominating charts. Into this scene stepped Ntokozo Mdluli , better known as K.O (formerly of the legendary group Teargas).
K.O had already proven his hitmaking ability with “Caracara” and “Skhanda Love” (featuring Kid X). But he wanted to solidify a solo legacy. The result was his debut studio album, — a term he coined to describe a rebellious, energetic, and unapologetically South African sound. “Skhanda” itself is slang from the townships, implying something stylish, powerful, and aggressive. 2. Tracklist & Hit Singles The album dropped in late 2014 under Cashtime Life (his own label, distributed by Universal Music). It blended trap, kwaito, and traditional hip-hop.
