[Department of Mobile Device Forensics / Independent Research] Abstract Background: Carrier-customized Android devices, such as the NTT Docomo Sony Xperia X Performance (SO-04H), often ship with unique modem configurations, boot logos, and pre-installed applications. Flashing an incorrect firmware can lead to baseband failure or hard brick. This paper documents the process of obtaining and flashing the official stock ROM ( .ftf format) specifically for the SO-04H using the open-source Flashtool (by Androxyde).
While generic Xperia X Performance (F8131/F8132) ROMs exist, only the SO-04H-specific .ftf maintains full hardware compatibility with Japanese FeliCa and LTE band 19. The SO-04H was successfully restored from a soft-bricked state (boot loop after unofficial LineageOS flash) back to stock Android 7.1 (Nougat) with full Docomo carrier features (1Seg, Osaifu-Keitai, VoLTE). No baseband corruption occurred. No baseband corruption occurred
