Episode 3 of NBC’s breakout mockumentary sitcom finds the staff of Oregon’s underfunded, over-caffeinated St. Denis Medical Center bracing for two things: the annual hospital holiday inspection and a surprise active-shooter drill that nobody remembers scheduling.
Over in the ER, Nurse Serena (Kaliko Kauahi) receives a cryptic text that a “Code Silver” (active shooter) drill will occur at 2 PM. The problem? It’s 1:55, and no one told security. When a patient’s teenage son walks in wearing a paintball mask and carrying a Nerf gun he got from the gift shop, all hell breaks loose. Dr. Bruce (Josh Lawson), the arrogant but weirdly endearing plastic surgeon, locks himself in a supply closet and live-streams a “hostage tutorial” to Instagram. The real hero?
