The cinematic Marina tried to run. The Beast didn’t chase. It simply stepped —each step a jump cut—and was beside her. It placed a pale, long hand on her shoulder. She froze. The camera zoomed into her eye, and inside the pupil, Marina saw her own streaming setup: her ring light, her microphone, the chat scrolling in reverse.
She looked at her camera. The red light was off. It had been off for the last seven minutes.
