In present-day Mumbai, a young archaeology student, , inherits a strange red-and-black box from his late grandfather. The box is covered in Sanskrit inscriptions and locked with seven iron seals. Kabir’s friend, Rohan (Dub: Sumit Wadhwa): "Yaar, yeh box toh filmon wala lagta hai. Kholke dikha na!" Kabir: "Nahi. Dada ne kaha tha – mat kholna. Chahe kuch bhi ho." Aditi is driving Kabir to a temple in Varanasi. She turns on the radio. A Hindi news bulletin plays: "Delhi mein ek aadmi ne achanak apne pure parivaar ko aaina dikha diya... sabki aankhen jal gayin. Police ke mutabik, wahin tarika jo 300 saal pehle..." Aditi looks at Kabir. His eyes are completely black. He smiles. "Aathvin raat aa gayi, Aditi. Ab... khel shuru." Cut to black.
